Rafal RohozinskiPrincipal and CEO of SecDev Group, Co-founder of Secdev Foundation
Rafal Rohozinski is the co-founder and principal of Canadian data-centric consultancy The SecDev Group. He is an expert in the fields of information security, cyber warfare and the globalization of armed violence.
He is a Senior Consulting Fellow for Future Conflict and Cybersecurity at the London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies. He regularly lectures at US and European Universities and has conducted special seminars for institutions including the Center for Strategic Leadership, U.S. Army War College, Joint Special Operations University, and Canadian Forces College.
He serves on the board of the Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries, SecDev Foundation and the Canadian International Council. He was previously a board member of Psiphon inc. and the Estonian e-government Academy. Between 2008 and 2012, he was the senior advisor to the Citizen Lab, University of Toronto.
Back in the 2000’s he was the co-founder of the Information Warfare Monitor (IWM), the OpenNet Initiative (ONI) and directed the Advanced Network Research Group, Cambridge Security Programme, University of Cambridge. Prior to co-founding SecDev, Mr. Rohozinski spent 17 years working in 37 countries, including conflict zones in the former Soviet Union, the Middle East and Africa.
Rafal Rohozinski is the author of numerous guidelines, strategy papers and evaluations in the ICT, public administration, and governance and poverty reduction fields for the UN, EU, US Department of Defense and national governments. His research focuses on the nexus between globalisation, and information technologies and the changing dynamics of conflict and security.
